The SME Assembly is the most significant event for Small and Medium sized Enterprise in Europe. The conference takes place once a year during European SME Week.
Bratislava hosted the 2016 SME Assembly on the 23rd – 25th of November. The event marked the fifth annual meeting of the SME Assembly, with 2015 having been held in Luxembourg. Over 600 delegates attended, including experts and entrepreneurs from across Europe and Tascomi’s Managing Director Dr. Richard Martin;

The SME Assembly opened with the inaugural Schumpeter “Innovation in Enterprise” lecture followed by the 10th European Enterprise Promotion Awards ceremony. There was also keynote speeches from high-level politicians and dignitaries, interactive sessions where participants got an opportunity to drive the policy agenda, practical masterclasses, boot camps, and an interactive expo to promote start-ups and scale-ups and those that support them.
The event featured the critical factors of success when building start-ups ecosystems through examples of successful strategies in supporting business viable structures as well as in removing of growth hindering barriers in the concerned economy. More specifically, it aimed to answer pressing questions, such as how does a thriving ecosystem improve the success rates of each start-up individually, what leads to the most successful entrepreneurial ecosystems and which are the specific value-adding competencies on which entrepreneurial ecosystems should be created.
