What brought you to Tascomi?

At the beginning of my search for a placement, Tascomi’s position for a Project Management assistant arose and was the first job I applied for! At that stage, I wasn’t overly familiar with what the company did, but the job description seemed perfect for me. Having completed A-Level Computing and familiarising myself with Project Management at University, I felt that I would enjoy this type of position. Having successfully gained an interview, I was surprised at the atmosphere in the office, everyone was so welcoming and I felt comfortable enough to be myself. When I got the call offering me the job, to say I was excited would be an understatement!

What aspects of your role do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy working as part of a team and it’s great having the opportunity to become involved in a variety of projects. I love meeting new people and this is a large aspect of my role here at Tascomi, which suits me perfectly – I love a good chat.

What do like most about Tascomi?

I love the atmosphere in the office and that everyone is so friendly and shares a love for tea and cake. The office is really relaxed and fun, but everyone is extremely focused and fantastic at their jobs at the same time, so it works.

What advice would you give to a new Tascomi employee?

My advice would be – just be yourself. Everyone has made me feel comfortable from my first day which has been great. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions. We all have to start somewhere and everyone is more than willing to help when they can. And the most important part, Bring Cake!

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I would love to be working full time as a Project Manager for Tascomi.

What did you want to be when growing up?

When I was growing up I wanted to be a nurse, I loved the idea of helping others and making a difference. The idea of being a nurse quickly faded, nearly as quick as the time it took for me to faint the first time I had to get blood taken!

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

What’s on your bucket list?

Road trip around the world in one of those cute little Volkswagen campervans.

What is your favourite movie/book?

Anything Star Wars is a good choice! The most recent ‘Force Awakens’ was amazing, so I’m excited for episode VIII to be released. As for books, I’m currently reading Star Wars: Darth Plagueis and so far so good.

What phobias do you have?

I’m ridiculously afraid of spiders, regardless of how small it might be. Here’s an unusual one… When I was younger, I used to faint any time I got my hair cut. I’ve no idea why, but needless to say I avoided the hairdressers for as long as possible.

Drew Getty has recently joined the Marketing team as a Marketing Assistant. He travels daily from Bangor and discovered Tascomi having heard a presentation from this year’s Tascomi Placement Marketing Assistant at Ulster University.

What brought you to Tascomi?

My university degree is a sandwich course, which consists of three years studying and one year working in industry. Tascomi’s current placement marketing student, Victoria Boyle, came to Ulster University’s Coleraine campus to deliver a presentation on Tascomi, alongside a few other organisations. Victoria’s presentation grabbed my attention the most and led to me applying for a placement role at Tascomi as soon as I saw the advertisement.

What 1 word would you use to describe Tascomi?

Enjoyment – at Tascomi you are always working on something different, never doing the same tasks over and over again. The other employees are incredibly welcoming and social. It is unlike anywhere I have ever worked before.

What do like/enjoy most about your job?

The way in which Tascomi employees interact with each other. No matter your role, everyone is treated equally and your opinion is valued.

What advice would you give to a new Tascomi employee?

Be prepared and on the first day bring a cake!

What are 3 career lessons you’ve learnt so far?

Be organised with everything you do, no matter what the task. Make sure to be on time or early to all important events or tasks – the early mornings aren’t nearly as bad as expected. Don’t be afraid to ask for help whenever you are struggling with a task.

Favourite country visited?

America! I spent a summer coaching tennis in Pennsylvania.

If you were stuck on an island, what three things would you bring?

Deckchair, Guinness book of world records (always a good read) and matches.

If you could have any superpower what would it be? And why?

To be able to fly! I always wanted to be able to go anywhere I wanted, no matter the distance or the time it takes to get there!

What is your favourite sport?

Tennis, I have played since I was very young.

What’s on your bucket list?

To travel around South America and make it to Machu Picchu! Not sure why, but seems like an adventure.
